Today we started rehearsing with the Metropole Bigband conducted by Maria Schneider. We are rehearsing for a concert next saturday the 12th were we will play the music of Gil Evans and Miles Davis as recorded on the albums "Porgy and Bess", "Miles Ahead" and "Sketches of Spain". Wallace Roney will play the solo parts. Martijn de Laat and me split the lead parts.

A colleague gave me some material he used to practice when he was studying with Pierre Thibaud. This is a copy of an Arban etude book I never heard of. Arban talks about pedal notes in this book and it also contains 12 Etudes. I think it should be in the public domain so I scanned it today. Click here to download this book.

I scanned an old book with a lot of old cornet etudes and duets. I got the book from a colleague who studied with Pierre Thiebaud. I think it belonged to Thibaud. It's not complete but has enough stuff to keep you busy.
N.B. I think there are no copyrights anymore on this book, but if I'm wrong please let me know and I will remove it from this site. |

Play-Along Project & Big Band (play-along) Project: I have recorded 22 & 4 new play-alongs. They are uploaded to Box.net so you can listen to them. If you're interested in playing them yourself, you can buy the sheet music & rhythm tracks in my webshop. In this project you will find the cornet/trumpet concertos of J.B. Arban. Next to the 12 famous concertos, which you will find in the back of the Arban Method, he also wrote another 20 (or so) great concertos. I edited them for cornet/trumpet & piano and made also a recording of the piano part so you can play along with it. You'll find each concerto in my webshop (with more to come).
