In “No Limits,” I cover all aspects of classical trumpet playing. Some etudes are written with flexibility in mind, while others cover double or triple tonguing. Your air control and range are going to be put to the test, and if you are playing with efficiency and control, these etudes will help you to improve your range so you don’t get stuck in limbo in the comfortable middle register (as too many etude books seem to do). It’s time to break the C3 limit in your etude playing…especially since you will be expected to do so on gig day.
These etudes should motivate and challenge you to keep improving yourself so you don’t get limited in your playing. A great quote from Arnold Jacobs was “never practice, always perform.” Erik put this quote front of mind when composing these studies, and you should do the same while playing them.
